Barbara and I were friends in high school.  Her mother owned "The Black Eagle," the lunchroom across the street from SCHS.  She and I would work together at lunchtime and had a lot of fun.  She was a bubbly, friendly person.  One thing I remember clearly is meeting her uncle, a Navy dentist, at the Black Eagle, and who used hypnotism in his practice.  He told Barbara and me a little about how it was done.  We won't go into my short career (my sister told on me) as a hypnotist.  Rest in peace, Barbara.  The memories are good ones.

Barbara and I were neighbors, and we spent a lot of time together. Just as friends. Her mom was always welcoming to all the kids, believing it was better for them to be home than out running around. Probably true!

I took her to the prom one year, again, as friends. I, too, worked at the Black Eagle during lunch hour, and I remember the hypnotist. But the best part of working there was the pulled pork(?) BBQ sandwiches for lunch.

I visited Barbara and her family in California shortly before she passed. I'll always remember her smile and good humor.
